Constitution
- General Purpose
The general purpose of Pollokshields Churches Together is to promote fellowship, understanding, and co-operation between the different Christian churches and traditions; to encourage united action in witness, mission, outreach, and service to the local community; and to provide a regular forum for study and debate on all matters of Christian unity and common concern.
- Basis and Commitment
Pollokshields Churches Together unites in pilgrimage the participating churches in Pollokshields which:-
- acknowledge God's revelation in Jesus Christ
- confess the Lord Jesus Christ as God and Saviour according to the scriptures
and in obedience to God's will and the power of the Holy Spirit commit to:-
- seek a deepening of their communion with Christ and with one another in the Church which is His Body
- fulfil their mission to proclaim the Gospel by common witness and service in the world to the glory of the One God - Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.
- Aims
- to facilitate common witness to the Christian faith
- to experience each other's traditions of spirituality of worship
- to work and pray for Christian unity to encourage local mission and outreach together
- to maintain communication and information with each other
- to respond as may be thought appropriate to matters of social concern, obeying the Gospel in a practical response to the life and needs of the community
- to facilitate the relationships between the member churches and the media and secular authorities
- to foster good relations with other faith communities
- Participating Churches
The current participating churches in Pollokshields Churches Together (PCT) are:
- Pollokshields Church of Scotland, Glasgow
- Pollokshields United Reformed Church
- St. Albert's Roman Catholic Church
- St. Ninian's Scottish Episcopal Church, Glasgow
- Sherbrooke-St. Gilbert's Church of Scotland
Additions to the list of participating churches may be made by the unanimous consent of the existing participants.
