Constitution

  1. General Purpose

    The general purpose of Pollokshields Churches Together is to promote fellowship, understanding, and co-operation between the different Christian churches and traditions; to encourage united action in witness, mission, outreach, and service to the local community; and to provide a regular forum for study and debate on all matters of Christian unity and common concern.

  2. Basis and Commitment 
    Pollokshields Churches Together unites in pilgrimage the participating churches in Pollokshields which:-

    • acknowledge God's revelation in Jesus Christ
    • confess the Lord Jesus Christ as God and Saviour according to the scriptures

    and in obedience to God's will and the power of the Holy Spirit commit to:- 

    • seek a deepening of their communion with Christ and with one another in the Church which is His Body
    • fulfil their mission to proclaim the Gospel by common witness and service in the world to the glory of the One God - Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. 
  3. Aims

    • to facilitate common witness to the Christian faith
    • to experience each other's traditions of spirituality of worship
    • to work and pray for Christian unity to encourage local mission and outreach together
    • to maintain communication and information with each other
    • to respond as may be thought appropriate to matters of social concern, obeying the Gospel in a practical response to the life and needs of the community
    • to facilitate the relationships between the member churches and the media and secular authorities
    • to foster good relations with other faith communities
  4. Participating Churches

The current participating churches in Pollokshields Churches Together (PCT) are: 

  • Pollokshields Church of Scotland, Glasgow
  • Pollokshields United Reformed Church
  • St. Albert's Roman Catholic Church
  • St. Ninian's Scottish Episcopal Church, Glasgow
  • Sherbrooke-St. Gilbert's Church of Scotland

Additions to the list of participating churches may be made by the unanimous consent of the existing participants.
